Namaste,
I am Ranju Darshana, a candidate for the House of Representatives Election 2026 from Kathmandu–1, representing the Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RSP). I was born in March 1996 and raised in Kathmandu by a single mother. This upbringing instilled in me resilience, empathy, and a deep sense of responsibility toward society.
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies from Kathmandu University and a Master’s degree in Political Science from Tribhuvan University. Guided by an inner calling to work more closely with people and their lived experiences, I also pursued a Postgraduate Diploma in Counseling Psychology.
Beyond politics, I actively conduct mental health awareness programs, provide basic psycho-social counseling, and teach undergraduate-level students at Thames International College. These engagements keep me connected to the real struggles, hopes, and aspirations of our communities.
My political journey began in 2013 with Bibeksheel Nepali Dal through the “Nepal Khulla Chha” (Nepal is Open) movement, which courageously defied bandhs and shutdowns imposed by traditional political forces. I have always believed that bandas do not build a nation, and that belief continues to guide my politics.
In 2017, I was endorsed as a Mayoral Candidate for Kathmandu Metropolitan City. Together with an inspiring team, we challenged powerful party machines and laid a strong foundation for alternative politics. Our collective effort secured 23,439 votes, proving that citizens were ready for a new political direction.
The 2022 elections further demonstrated the rise of independent voices and alternative leadership across Nepal. Today, in 2026, we stand at a decisive moment, poised to create history with RSP and institutionalize a politics rooted in integrity, competence, and public service.
The September uprising of Gen Z shook the nation. We witnessed young students in school uniforms facing state brutality. More than 76 young people lost their lives simply for demanding good governance and decisive action against corruption. The events that followed exposed deep systemic failures and a painful sense of statelessness. The election we face today is therefore not accidental. It is historic and carries the power to offer Nepal a new hope and a stable, accountable system.
On a personal note, I am happily married to my love, Kishu, who has been a constant backbone and pillar throughout my journey.
Together, let us build a Nepal that works for everyone.

I was born in Kathmandu to a single mother who used to do minor tailoring and look after kids. I was admitted to a small school at Dhapasi, which was known by the name Nirmal Batika English Medium School, where I completed primary education. Later, I was admitted to Bhanubhakta Memorial Higher Secondary School, from where I passed the School Leaving Certificate (SLC) examination. My mother worked two shifts, looking after infants and also doing minor tailoring jobs to make ends meet and provide education for me. However, every social institution sought my absent father’s identity, who had abandoned me even before my birth. I found this idea really unfair to my single mother and many like her. This began when schools refused to provide an identity card, a fee invoice with the mother’s nam,e which later continued to the time of receiving Citizenship in the name of the mother too. To support my mother, I started working professionally as a telemarketer in a private company right after SLC.
