I am Ranju Darshana, an aspiring political leader who was born and raised in Kathmandu. I am currently serving as the General Secretary of Bibeksheel Sajha Party. My political journey began in 2013 with Bibeksheel Nepali Dal at the age of 17.  Besides Politics, I advocate for Mental Health (mondayformentalhealth is a platform that started in 2019). I am a part-time faculty for Undergraduate Students at Thames International College. And lastly, I am also a part-time explorer of The Best Mo:Mo in town. 😃😃😃

My first political campaign was ‘Nepal Khulla chha,’ which means ‘Nepal is Open.’ It was a movement aimed at defying political strikes that paralyzed the country. Over the years, I have participated in numerous political campaigns, including running for the Mayoral Position of Kathmandu City in the 2017 local election, where I secured the third position. I started my political journey in 2013 with Bibeksheel Nepali Dal which was later established as Bibeksheel Sajha Party in 2017.

The year 2017 is a remarkable one for me from a hundred different aspects. Number One aspect is My Candidacy for the Position of Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City. I was the face of that once-in-a-lifetime momentum that we Bibeksheel Nepali created collectively. It was a head-on challenge to the mainstream old parties against their mishandling of authority and fake promises over the years. We did not win but we broke through the wall of narratives that “Youths cannot do Politics”, and “Politics is only for old parties”. Fast forward to the next election in 2022, Nepal witnessed hundreds of youths contesting in elections. I contested again and this time for the parliament but lost brutally. In 2023, I contested in the federal election for the position of member of the House of Representatives, though the result was not as successful as I hoped. Though I didn’t win both elections, I have not lost my hope. I am right now serving as the General Secretary of Bibeksheel Sajha Party.

Beyond Nepal, I have had the opportunity to travel to various countries for political workshops and learning exchanges. Academically, I hold a bachelor’s degree in Development Studies from Kathmandu University and a Masters Degree in Political Science from Tribhuvan University. I am currently pursuing a Post Graduate Diploma in Counseling Psychology.

On a personal note, I am happily married to my love, Kishu ❤️

I was born in Kathmandu to a single mother who used to do minor tailoring and look after kids. I was admitted to a small school at Dhapasi which was known by the name Nirmal Batika English Medium School where I completed primary education. Later, I was admitted to Bhanubhakta Memorial Higher Secondary School at Panipokhari from where I cleared the School Leaving Certificate (SLC) examination. My mother worked two shifts looking after infants and also doing minor tailoring jobs to make ends meet and provide education for me. However, every social institution seeked for my absent father’s identity who had abandoned me even before my birth. I found this idea really unfair to my single mother and many like her. This began when schools refused to provide an identity card, Fee invoice with mother’s name which later continued to the time of receiving Citizenship in the name of mother too. To support my mother, I started working professionally as a Tele-Marketer in a private company right after SLC.
